Dr. Hanwen Yan joins the faculty at Oklahoma Conservatory of Music as Piano Instructor, bringing with her a versatile career that spans performance, pedagogy, and collaborative artistry. She previously served as a Teaching Assistant at the Texas Tech University School of Music, where she worked extensively as a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and keyboard instructor.

As a performer, Yan regularly performs a wide variety of repertoire as both soloist and collaborative artist. She has appeared as an international guest soloist with the Tarnów Chamber Orchestra in Poland, and has given solo and chamber recitals throughout the United States and China. As an active researcher in piano pedagogy, she was invited to present on body-aware teaching and Body Mapping theory at the International Piano Pedagogy Association (IPPA) conference in Shanghai, and has presented lecture-recitals at the College Music Society (CMS) national conference.

Yan is deeply committed to mentoring young musicians and remains active as a clinician and adjudicator. She serves on the faculty of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, coaching the college students and performing as a faculty artist. Her dedication to teaching extends beyond the university setting, having also served on the faculty of the Texas Tech University Orchestra Camp and the Performing Arts Academy at Oklahoma City University.

Yan holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Tech University, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University, and a Bachelor's degree from Minzu University of China. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the College Music Society (CMS), and previously served as President of the MTNA Collegiate Chapter at Texas Tech University.
