Violin studio of Heather wickersham

Welcome! I am so excited to get to know your family and make beautiful music with your student(s). Here is some helpful information that will help you support your child and ensure they are successful and have the best experience possible in my studio.

  1. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, except for emergencies. If a cancellation is made less than 24 hours or a student fails to come to a lesson, regular lesson fees will still be charged.

  2. Parents of young children are expected to attend all lessons. This is to help the parent know how to help the child practice during the week. Practice assignments are clearly communicated. Parent involvement is very important to student success.

  3. Practice is expected. We all have bad days and weeks. I understand. Students cannot grow and succeed if practicing does not happen on a regular basis. I emphasize quality of practice over quantity. Thoughtful, careful practice will always be more helpful than mindlessly playing a song for a set amount of time.

  4. Please be on time for your lesson and ready to go at the beginning of the lesson. I am not able to go beyond your scheduled time. I want to make the most of the time we have.

I understand violin lessons are a big commitment for the parent as well as the student. This is what you can expect from me.

  1. I will be on time and prepared for every lesson. I will work hard to teach your child to the best of my ability, keeping in mind your child’s specific needs.

  2. I will give you at least 24 hours notice if I need to cancel. I will work hard to respond to emails/texts, etc. within 24 hours.

  3. I will always treat you and your child with respect, kindness, and patience. I strive to create a positive and encouraging atmosphere, believing that students learn best in a warm environment.

  4. I will strive to build a relationship with you and your child. I want them to know I truly love and care about them. I want them to feel safe to ask questions and be themselves.
